War of words breaks out after Rafale review plea dismissal

PANJIM: A day after Supreme Court dismissed all Rafale review petition on lack of merit, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the verdict is a “vindication” of his late predecessor and former defence minister Manohar Parrikar’s clean politics.
“This verdict once again proves to the people of Goa and India about how clean Parrikar’s image was. I do not know what to say about Rahul Gandhi, but Manohar Parrikar was clean, both as the chief minister of Goa and as defence minister,” he said.
In a tweet, Sawant said “The #RafaleVerdict has exposed @INCIndia and @RahulGandhi’s attempts to create a hoax on a crucial matter of national security, purely for political gains. The judgment is a victory for people of India, who stood strongly with Modi sarkar.”
On Thursday, soon after the verdict was out, Utpal, son of former defence minister late Parrikar said that Rahul Gandhi’s act was a part of “ill-planned political game”, just the way he used visit to his ailing father for politics.
In a series of tweets, Utpal has taken on Rahul Gandhi stating that Rafale verdict is a good learning experience for the Congress leader.
“#RafaelVerdict is out and I hope this is a good learning experience for @RahulGandhi. I can give benefit of doubt that he did all this as part of ill-planed political game, just the way he used visit to my ailing father for politics,” Utpal tweeted.
However, Congress hit back at Utpal stating that their leader Rahul Gandhi always considers himself as a learner and follows principles of democracy unlike late Parrikar who considered himself as super intelligent and always followed the path of dictatorship.
In a press statement issued, Congress spokesperson Vithu Morajkar said that Utpal should learn and understand that the Supreme Court verdict has not given a clean chit to the Rafale deal and in fact has stated that independent investigation agencies can probe the same.
