MAPUSA: Ganeshpuri ward no. 6, Dattawadi-Ektanagar ward no.12 and Dongor ward no. 14 of the Mapusa Municipal council are located next to each other. While the ward no.6 is located on the border line of Mapusa and Siolim, ward no. 12 and 14 are inside Mapusa town.
The Ganeshpuri ward was unreserved during the last municipal elections and Sanjay Mishal had won with 575 votes defeating Vaman Pandit, however this time the ward is reserved for OBC and Women. Sanjay Mishal has lost his chance to recontest. From ward no. 12 Sandeep Falari had won with 966 defeating Samir Harmalkar and Dipti Lanjekar had won from ward no.14 with 456 votes defeating Sneha Bhobe.
ISSUE: GARBAGE DUMPING ON THE ROADSIDE
With no major issues to solve, this ward basically has the garbage dumping site of Mapusa Municipality and sports ground which was renovated in 2017. The only problem here was the roadside dumping of garbage which the last elected representative has managed to solve during his term. The constant dumping of garbage and failure to clear the same had led to stray cattle and street dogs menace which caused minor accidents especially during the late night since these animals used to loiter in this area for food, scratching and digging the garbage.
Ward 12 that is Dattawadi-Ektagar is represented by Sandip Falari from the last four terms. Similar to the last municipal elections, this time also the ward is unreserved while giving a full chance for Sandip Falari to re contest.
ISSUES: NON-SEGREGATION OF WASTES, IMPROPER GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICE
The Mapusa municipality has distributed two separate bins for wet and dry garbage however still in some parts of this ward, the idea of segregation of waste is still not followed as well as few parts face improper door to door garbage collection service. Also since the cement bins are replaced with plastic bins, the ward also witnesses overflowing of garbage which is located on the roadside. Leaving aside some, few parts of the ward also face the water shortage issue.
Ward 14 that is Dongor is represented by Dipti Lanjekar. This was unreserved due to which, there are chances that Lanjekar may recontest.
COMPLAINTS: NO DEVELOPMENT
