PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Sunil Kawthankar has said that he has been denied Mayem ticket “for not toeing the line of some leaders… which upset equations of some selfish leaders who had secret settings with BJP.”
In a press release issued here, Kawthankar said, “I became the victim of my loyalty to Congress party by holding a clear unbiased and bold stand on issues concerning public interest and that of our State and the youth such as casinos, drugs, regional plan, employment, corruption etc.”
For these reasons, he said, the Mayem ticket was denied to hims and given to a person who was a part of BBSM.
He also blamed a “shameless leader” who wanted to register Sattari Yuva Morcha as a political party and was “hobnobbing with the BJP”, for the denial of Congress ticket to him.
He said that he did not back off from the electoral race, “but was back stabbed.”
He regretted that his loyalty to Congress and hard work in building up the party fell flat in front of “sycophancy and boot licking” and that he lost out to somebody which the Congress defined “as garbage of BBSM.”
