MARGAO: Though Margao municipal workers have given a strike call from tomorrow, “Our waste collection workers will be working,” said former MMC chairperson Savio Coutinho who coordinates with the teams collecting garbage.
“However, we are doubtful about the lifting of the collected waste. Therefore, a humble request to all is to try and keep the dry waste separately, without handing over to the workers,” added Coutinho.
Coutinho pointed out that this would reduce the volume of waste collected. “We hope that the issues are settled at the earliest so as to prevent general public from facing hardships,” he said.
Commenting on the strike call given by the municipal employees, Coutinho quipped: “People should not be held to ransom.”
