Farmers here depend on the nullah water for paddy cultivation but due to the contamination of water, many ryotss have abandoned farming. Locals had urged the Pollution Control Board to inspect the nullah and initiatee necessary action.
At Bethora, untreated chemical waste generated by some beverage units is released into the nullah which flows further from Curti Khandepar Panchayat towards Ponda town where it is further polluted with garbage and plastic waste. The same water flows into a stream towards Kavlem, then Bandora and before winding its way into the Zuari river.
