PANJIM: The department of waste management has been merged with the Department of Science, Technology and the new entity formed out of the merger is named as “Department of Science, Technology and Waste Management.”
The newly formed department has been handed over to Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo – the Department of Science, Technology was earlier with the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
Lobo told reporters that the merger would speed up the decision making process as all works relating to waste management has come under one roof.
“We will finalise which machines to be procured for municipal and panchayats and also the grants can be given by one department,” he said.
“We will cater to need of waste management,” he said.
