MARGAO: Locals from Cortalim are upset with water constantly gushing down from the structural columns of the flyover for the Zuari Bridge during the rains. They further pointed out that the rain water coupled with the water flowing down from Cortalim slope is accumulating and spilling onto the roads due to the poor drainage system.
After a video goes viral people calls it a mini waterfall and criticises the authorities about their short fall.
Reportedly, there was a landslide on the Verna to Cortalim slope after the mud from the hill, where the flyover construction work is underway, came onto the road and posed a huge risk to the commuters. At that point, temporary arrangements were put in place to create more space for the water to flow out.
However, locals pointed out that this issue of the road and surrounding areas getting inundated with water has become a regular issue and that there should have been proper planning and execution in advance.
They also asked what happened to the inspection where the PWD and other authorities had promised to take adequate action to prevent any flood-like situation.
