Water pipeline bursts 5th time at Mapusa

MAPUSA: Yet again, the people of Mapusa had to face the brunt of water shortage since the contractor carrying work of national highway expansion has once again damaged the 100 MLD water pipeline at Peddem-Karaswada junction while wasting hundreds of gallons of water and causing inconvenience to consumers.

This is the fifth time when the highway contractor has damaged the water pipeline due to haphazard digging of road while carrying out national highway expansion work.

PWD officials informed that due to bursting of pipeline, water supply to Mapusa Constituency will be affected.

A local resident said, “Without studying the plan, the national highway contractor carries out the work. Proper planning is required when they are shifting one pipeline to another. But this is the way, the work is being carried out. It’s a complete negligence on part of the contractor but it’s the people who have to suffer in the end.”
