PERNEM: A mini fountain was witnessed at Sukekolan, Dhargal on Saturday morning as thousands of litres of water was wasted due to water supply pipeline burst.
While the Pernem Taluka is already facing shortage of water, this is the third incident in a year, where the pipeline has busted.
The locals have blamed the company which has undertaken the expansion of national highway work for the same.
A local said, “Every now and then, the pipeline keeps on bursting. People in Pernem are already facing water shortage but the company is least bothered about anything and they don’t even give a damn about the State government. While undertaking the work, they should take the supervisors of local departments into confidence but instead of doing that they keep on digging the roads which results in damaging of pipelines.”
However, the PWD officials informed that the pipeline burst while the Water Resources Department was undertaking some work.
