MAPUSA: Speaking volumes of the substandard work carried on by the PWD and the National Highway contractor, the recently repaired 500mm main water pipeline burst along the Guirim Mapusa service road at around 8.30 am on Monday disrupting supply to the already parched areas of Guirim, Saligao, Anjuna and other surrounding areas.
By the time PWD team reached the site, the road caved in, thousands of litres of water was wasted and the area was completely flooded. Traffic then had to be diverted through internal roads.
This is the second such incident with the first happening in July 2022 and water supply to the affected areas was restored only after a week.
