The JICA contractor had fled the scene leaving its labourers who couldn’t answer any questions. PWD officials had cut the waterline along the route as residents complained of muddy water in their taps.
When contacted, JICA-PWD Engineer Shivaji Jadav said the water supply would be restored immediately and abruptly disconnected the phone line when questioned about the latest road digging work. On the other hand, PWD Engineer Ganesh Velip didn’t pick up the call.
A source from the PWD present on the site complained that the JICA excavators are a nightmare throughout summer.
There has been a major uproar by affected citizens of the commercial capital, as PWD-JICA works are carried out haphazardly and clandestinely since the deadline for road digging has expired.
