PERNEM: People in Morjim coastal belt are suffering from the acute water shortage as they have not received proper tap water for the last four to five months.
The residents of Tembwada and surrounding wards accused the elected representative stating that only during the election time, when the tap used to go dry, they were supplied water through tankers but now for the last four months there is no water even through tankers.
They said that they are forced to walk long distances and get water from bore wells for their everyday household use. The women senior citizens from the village said they cannot walk with heavy buckets and gallons.
“We are getting bills from time to time but how are we supposed to clear them if we are not getting water only. For the last four months we have been facing this difficulty. Earlier, we used to get water on alternate days but since last four months the situation has worsened,” a village woman said.
“We have informed every authority concerned including the PWD, panchayat and MLA but our grievances have fallen on deaf ears. They are only putting the responsibility on each other. We are forced to use bore well water for consumption. If this issue is not resolved at the earliest then we are going to take a morcha at the office of PWD,” they vowed.
