SANGUEM: The water supply at the 100 MLD JICA water treatment plant at Xelpem, Sanguem was severely affected since early morning on Monday on account of bone feeder problems at sub-station at Xelpem and Wadem power stations.
Assistant Engineer Malahekar attached to Power Supply Department, Sanguem said the sub-station at Xelpem suffered bone feeder problem thereby affecting the power supply to the JICA water treatment plant at Selaulim water works.
The problem in the bone feeder was however rectified by 10 am and the power supply to the JICA water works restored. However, after a couple of hours on account of low voltage problem at the main power station at Xelpem which supplies power to Xelpem sub-station, the power supply to the 100 MLD water treatment plant was affected for the second time in a day.
The power supply to the water treatment plant was regulated at 4 pm.
Though efforts were made to regulate the power supply to the Water Treatment Plant from Wadem sub-station, it could not be done due to the voltage problems.
Sources at JICA water treatment plant informed that the pumping operation at the plant was regulated at 4.45 pm and water supply restored.
