Porvorim: Days after indicating hike in power tariff, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said that there was a need to increase water tariff too.
“This has to be done to avoid wastage of water which is happening,” he said. Parrikar, said the government is giving huge subsidy on water supply.
“Hence cost needs to be increased for the top level mainly to avoid wastage,” he said. On 24×7 water supply, he said the state has been doing progress in this matter.
“We have made progress in water supply. If not 24×7 but atleast 40 to 50 p.c of State should be able to get 12 hours water supply in near future,” he stated.
