MAPUSA: The Bardez Taluka is already facing problem of acute water shortage. On Saturday, it was learnt that hundreds of litres of water is being getting wasted due to busting of a pipeline near Carvalho Petrol Pump, at Mapusa.
The broken pipeline was discovered when someone moved a coconut palm leaf only to discover that the pipeline beneath the leaf was leaking and hundreds of litres water was wasted due to the broken pipeline.
“We don’t know since when the water has been leaking but looks like this pipeline is broken on purpose because time and again this particular pipeline keeps on busting. I request the concerned department to look into this and get the issue solved on priority basis,” Shekhar Naik, a Mapusa resident said. Shortage of water is one of the major problems that is haunting the Bardez Taluka especially the Siolim Constituency where people are suffering for the past several years.
