MAPUSA: Bardez has witnessed heavy showers like the rest of Goa but ironically there is not a drop to drink in some parts of Bardez.
From last three days, there is no water supply in parts of Bardez Taluka, mainly Mapusa. Consumers said that for the last three days they have not received a single drop of water and they are presently using water which they had stored.
Sources informed that the water supply is affected due to technical issue at the Assonora Water Treatment Plant. The water filtration machine breaks down as a result and the filtration process gets affected.
“There is no water for last three days. The water which was stored is utilised. People are facing inconvenience of getting filtered water for consumption,” Amey Korgaonkar complained.
“Earlier, we use to receive water on alternate days and now when it is raining heavily, there is not a single drop of water. I came to know that it will take three days to filter the muddy water and there is no provision for any alternative,” said Councillor Shashank Narvekar.
Meanwhile, the North Goa District Congress Committee has threatened to hold a morcha on Thursday, if the water supply issue does not resolve by Wednesday.
