PANJIM: Two tourists drowned in two separate incidents at Morjim on Thursday.
According to the Pernem police, in the first incident, one Faiz Ahmed, 47, from Pune was carried away by a strong current at the Morjim Beach at about 8:30 am.
The deceased had come to Goa with his wife Fatima and two children three days back and was staying at a resort at Morjim. His body was fished out by a lifeguard and shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Pernem, where the doctor declared him broughtdead.
In the second incident, one Rajesh Sharma, 50, from Bengaluru also met with the same fate at the beach. A life guard rushed to save the drowning tourist life but failed to do so.
Sharma too was shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Pernem, where he was declared brought dead.
The deceased had come to his friend’s place at Morjim and had gone for a swim at Morjim Beach when the tragedy occurred.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is underway, police added.
