We are falsely labelled as terrorists: Sanatan

PONDA: Sanatan Sanstha has alleged that the Congress and other secular parties have been demanding a ban on the organisation only because it is a Hindu organisation.

At an interactive programme in Dhavalim, Ponda, organised to refute allegations that the Sanatan is a terrorist organisation, its spokesperson Abay Vartak accused the secular parties of falsely labelling his organisation as terrorist.
He said that the only activity his organisation is engaged in is bringing the Hindus together, but the same is being portrayed as an act of terrorism by both the secular political parties as well as the media.
Criticizing the media coverage of Sanatan’s activities as biased, Vartak accused the media of holding his organisation for the acts of some of its members, who, he said, acted independently without direction from the organisation. He was referring to the arrests in connection with the 2009 Margao blasts and the murder of rationalist Govind Pansare.
He said the failure of the investigating agencies to prove the cases against Sanatan sadhaks goes to show that his organisation had no hand in either the Margao bomb blast or Pansare murder. The activists were arrested on false charges and unnecessarily harassed, he alleged.
