PANJIM: The relationship that Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) and its mentor Subhash Velingkar have with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) won’t weaken, MGP asserted on Wednesday. But, added a proviso that should Velingkar, who recently dissolved the RSS Goa Prant, follow the BJP ideologies, there could be changes.
MGP General Secretary Lavu Mamledar said, “Relationship between the alliance and like-minded groups who fought the election together won’t be spoiled if Velingkar doesn’t come under pressure of BJP’s influence in the RSS.”
Mamledar feels there is no possibility of his party having any ties with the BJP. “I don’t feel that RSS and the cadres who were with Velingkar will go again with BJP. If they don’t go with them we will have a healthy relationship,” he added.
BBSM leader Arvind Bhatikar said Velingkar was a part of the manch from the beginning and there won’t be any strain in the relationship. “After the demise of Tai (Shashikala Kakodkar) Velingkar became convener of the manch, he was part of BBSM even when he was in the RSS, so I don’t feel there will be any difference now,” he said.
GSM President Anand Shirodkar said Velingkar voluntarily, because of his ideologies and principles, dissolved the Goa Prant though most of the cadres had demanded that the unit not be dissolved unless the Sangh gave him back the position he held earlier.
“This man won’t come under the influence of any political party. He made the cadres understand the ideologies of Sangh and its service and later dissolved the Goa Prant,” Shirodkar said. He added, “It is not his weakness as some people feel that.” He said there won’t be any differences within the groups and the cause will be fought in unity.
Velingkar said that all the groups and political parties in the alliance will remain intact and fight for the cause together.
