We support the CM’s candidate for RS: Vijai

TCP minister tells Herald from Japan: As a regional party we have local challenges which are being taken care of in this govt; Most of GF’s manifesto points are addressed in CMP; We have been given space to work

PANJIM: The Congress’ hopes of getting even a faint nod from one of the allies, of support for their candidate for the Rajya Sabha, was nipped in the bud with the Goa Forward ruling out even contemplating such a thought.
Speaking to Herald from Kyoto, Japan, where he is on a family vacation, Sardesai said, “The Chief Minister called me before taking the decision to name Vinay Tendulkar as the BJP nominee for the Rajya Sabha seat from Goa. We are backing the Chief Minister and hence we are backing the CM’s candidate. There is no conflict here because we are a regional party. We are working on issues of immense local importance and most of them have been seriously addressed and found mention in the CMP. Moreover, even in the cultural and arts space, a very good team will run Ravindra Bhavan and take it to never before heights.”
Sardesai said that therefore, that the Rajya Sabha decision was a non issue, and yet the CM did make the courtesy call to consult.
Interestingly, the AICC Secretary Girish Chodankar, in a piquant admission to reporters said that the Congress was “desperate” to topple the Parrikar government but was getting no support from the allies.
It is clear now that he will not be getting any from the Goa Forward anytime soon.
