Wedding music will not be stopped over copyright issues, says CM Sawant

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant clarified that music at weddings and social functions cannot be stopped due to copyright claims or licence disputes. Speaking during a debate in the Goa Legislative Assembly, he addressed concerns over copyright agencies allegedly disrupting events and demanding payments on the spot. Sawant stated that any copyright-related issue should be taken up with the police and not with event organisers or hotels during ongoing functions. He assured that no organiser should be forced to make payments mid-event. The Chief Minister added that the state government would issue formal directions to hotels and event venues to prevent such disruptions. He also said the matter would be taken up with the Union Ministry of Commerce for guidance and a long-term solution.
