MARGAO: Colva Police has registered a murder case against Subhankar Jana, a native of West Bengal who is presently working as a labourer at Majorda for allegedly murdering a 29-year-old Sufal Sharma, carpenter by profession and also a native of West Bengal.
On Friday night, Colva Police received a call at around 10.45 pm that there was a major fight at Majorda and accordingly Police Inspector Melson Colaco along with his team rushed to the spot. Looking at the condition of injured Sharma, the police shifted him to the Hospicio Hospital.
However, the medical officer on duty at the Hospicio Hospital declared the person dead on arrival and accordingly based on the complaint by the deceased’s brother Gopal Sharma, who is also a carpenter by profession, arrested the alleged accused.
Apparently, the deceased was beaten by a wooden rod and also knifed during a discussion. The victim abused the murderer. The murder was solved within 24 hours and the accused arrested.
Both the deceased and the accused were working at a furniture workshop at Majorda and further investigations are on.
