MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim police have registered a case against West Bengal native for allegedly raping a 37-year-old married woman from the Salcete.
The police said that the accused Naba Kumar Sardar, 26 was absconding after committing the offence. Based on the victim’s complaint, PSI Varshada Naik Dessai has registered a case against Sardar.
According to the police, the accused was staying in the house of victim’s relative where he developed relations with the woman. Police said that the accused working as a daily wage worker allegedly raped her by inducing and threatened her with dire consequence.
The accused assured the woman to take her to his native West Bengal but on reaching Bengal, they were caught by the railway police, who found that the woman is married and contacted her husband in Goa. She was later handed over to him.
However, the accused was let off the leash and the police have now flashed wireless messages to all the police stations to nab him.
