West Bengal native convicted of culpable homicide

MARGAO: Subhankar Jana,  aged 29, from West Bengal convicted under for culpable homicide not amounting to murder was sentenced on Tuesday to  undergo five years rigorous imprisonment and to pay fine of Rs 50,000, in default to undergo one year simple imprisonment by Session Judge, Margao. He was charged under Section 304 of IPC.

Colva police had charged him under Section 302 of IPC for committing the murder of Sufal Sharma however  court held him guilty of culpable homicide.

The accused and deceased were both working as carpenters at a workshop in Majorda and had an argument on some issue on the night of June 11, 2021, when the deceased was hit by some object by the accused near the Majorda railway station.
