Reacting to the criticism for cancelling the traditional carnival celebration in Ponda, Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte stated that the carnival festivities were held in four major cities as per an old list, and have only added Porvorim and Morjim this year.
He added that besides the four major cities, carnival celebrations held across other places are not related to the tourism dept. He added that permission is only needed from deputy mamlatdar and the police. Khaunte further went on to say that the government. has never stopped anyone from celebrating carnival, everyone is free to celebrate.
