The Delhi Police has taken significant action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), by filing a chargesheet against him on Thursday. Singh is now facing charges of sexual harassment and stalking. Additionally, the police have recommended the cancellation of a complaint lodged by a minor wrestler against Singh.
Regarding the complaint filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police completed their investigation and submitted a report under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The report urges the cancellation of the case, citing statements provided by the victim’s father and the victim herself.
In another case related to Singh, based on a complaint filed by other wrestlers, a chargesheet has been filed. The chargesheet lists offences under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty (Section 354), sexual harassment (Section 354A), and stalking (Section 354D).
Vinod Tomar, a suspended assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has also been charged under sections 109 (abetment of any offence resulting in the act being committed, without specific punishment provision), 354, 354A, and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
