There is so much being spoken regarding silent voters deciding the next Government of Goa and how they are sizable in number. Herald decided to put an end to this silent voter of one of the fastest growing economies of the world and the results were amazing. Varied demands, some old and many new have been made by several people across Margao, Fatorda and parts of Curtorim.
While many decided to take the beaten path of demands of employment and development, many have said that the Government needs to fulfill what they promise, be it any party or any Government. Some people instead of being selfish have dared to ask for their town or their locality.
Fatorda Chandrawado resident and a salaried person Dattaraj Pednekar said a footpath at Chandrawado, street lights to be converted to LED lights, action to curtail the menace of stray dogs are some of the major areas which his ward is suffering and need to be dealt with soon. “Since Chandrawado has lot of underprivileged families small health centre for poor and needy people in my area can help,” he said.
The Fatorda resident also demanded for a compulsory traffic signal to be installed near the Nehru Stadium, near Arlem circle, near Borda circle, near Margao Colva circle as these junctions cause lot of traffic jams due to indiscipline on road.

Fatorda resident Devraj Faldessai, meanwhile, has a different approach. Devraj said “Fulfill all the promises made by the candidates during the election campaign. Completion of the work of District Hospital and Margao KTC bus stand is of paramount importance to all the South Goans and needs to be done with priority.”
“I travel a lot for my business and hence traffic signal for the safety of people all around the major roads is the need of the hour,” he added.

Rizwan from Margao said: “The upcoming Government is expected to improve on the basic health care for the poor and also make food arrangements for the poor and the under privileged. Not just the rich but the poor is also a tax payer in many ways and the poor too deserves good facilities.”

Ishan Prabhudessai, a businessman and a voter of Canacona, said “Development of basic amenities is a must to boost the Goan economy and we expect the next Government to do the same. Bigger and better international events in Goa have been a proven medium for development of the state and hosting of such events will help the state a lot.”

Elano said “It is most important that the Government keeps its word. Lot was spoken regarding the mining scam and others but we have not seen even one arrest in this case. Credibility comes to the persons who keep their promises and the next Government has to fulfill the promises they have made.”

Ayushi Tanawade, a student from Curtorim, said, “The development of a good transport system between major cities is what the student community expects from the next Government. We want to get rid of lines for travel tickets every day twice as it is wasting lot of productive time.”
