PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stated that pending dues of beneficiaries of various schemes such as schemes for farmers, Laadli Laxmi, Gruha Aadhar, DDSSY schemes or fishermen’s schemes, will be cleared before September 4. In this edition of Street Voices, Herald TV asked people on their reaction to the Chief Minister’s assurance of releasing pending dues before Ganesh Chaturthi.
Our chief minister Pramod Sawant has declared that all dues of beneficiaries will be cleared before Ganesh Chaturuthi. We were happy. Many are waiting with longing and trust. People trust the CM. The CM should pay the dues at least 8 days before Ganesh Chaturthi so that we can celebrate Chaturthi with great joy. Due to unemployment and inflation it is becoming more and more difficult to celebrate festivals. If the Laadli Laxmi scheme, the Gruha Aadhar and farmers and other scheme subsidies are cleared, people like us will benefit tremendously. And people too will realize that this is a government which works for them.

Many people are dependent on the Gruha Aadhar scheme. The government pays for this scheme. The money does not come from the pocket of the ministers or MLAs. If the government cannot implement these schemes, they should just stop. Don’t make the people suffer. You are blocking the dues of the people for two to three months. I can’t understand how the dues are cleared when elections are round the corner. Also when government wants to get its work done, it immediately disburses money through these schemes. Why are you playing politics with these subsidies? As Chaturthi approaches, do people not require money in their pockets? Even government contractors or government teachers are not getting their dues on time. This is how the government is exploiting the people.

Ganesh Chaturthi is nearing. But this year in these heavy rains the crops and plantations have been devastated. The common people have been severely affected by this. I appeal to the government to clear the dues of cashew farmers, and all those who have lost their crops and plantations this year, so that they can really celebrated this Ganesh Chaturthi with great joy. People should be given the support price, subsidies and whatever help is possible. I appeal to the CM and the government to help all to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with great joy.
