Meanwhile, Sarpanch Dourado said that the mobile tower file was rejected by the panchayat body, adding that the police and the deputy collector have been intimated by the panchayat body over the mobile tower. He said the cellular company has assured to remove the structure.

MARGAO: Residents of Mingfol-Chinchinim on Monday cried foul over the land filling of low-lying agricultural field in the locality.
Agitated residents have demanded immediate restoration of the land to its original condition.
The residents numbering over 100 demanded to know how the land filling activity was being carried out without any permission from the authorities, including the local panchayat body.
A local resident Cio Fernandes told Herald that truck loads of mud was dumped in the low lying area in the last few days. He said that a small structure has also come up on the filled-up area and demanded immediate action. “The residents of the area have demanded an immediate stop to the land filling activity and restoration of the land to its original condition”, Cio said.
Ward member Constancio Fernandes, who called for meeting of residents, maintained that the panchayat has not issued any NOC or license for the activity. In fact, Constancio pointed out that he was instrumental in rejecting the NOC
sought by the owner for the structure on ground that the house is illegal. “I have told the people that I will stand by them and will not allow any illegal activity in my ward,” he later told Herald.
