Where are the Day-Books?

No Day-Books are available in the office of the Salcete Sub-Registrar for the period from 1965-72. Persons in the know say that a Day-Book is a very important register which helps to search for any document registered during a particular period. It is learnt that successive Sub-Registrars have not put in place a mechanism to re-copy the registers. This situation has put the people in need of the documents to great hardships to lay their hands on these records. When Sub-Registrar Suraj Vernekar was contacted to shed light on the day books, he confirmed that the day books pertaining to the period 1965-71 are mutilated and missing.
