Men’s rights activist Barkha Trehan has drawn national attention after she allegedly threw ink at Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke during a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday. The incident took place at around 1.20 pm while Dipke was addressing supporters and criticising the Delhi Police over the removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site earlier in the day.
According to police, 32-year-old Trehan approached the stage during the speech and allegedly threw ink at Dipke from close range. CJP supporters quickly restrained her before she was taken to Parliament Street police station for questioning.

After the incident, Trehan defended her actions, stating that she was not against peaceful protests and had no political affiliations. She alleged that the gathering had deviated from the NEET issue and become politically motivated. Trehan also accused Dipke and his associates of making derogatory remarks about Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, saying her act was a symbolic protest against those alleged comments.
In a post on X, Trehan admitted to throwing the ink and described herself as a “Kattar Hindu”, saying she acted because she could not tolerate insults directed at Hindu deities. She later alleged that CJP supporters assaulted her following the incident, claiming she was beaten and her hair was pulled. She also accused the organisers of using Sonam Wangchuk for political purposes.
Police said Trehan chanted “Jai Shri Ram” while being escorted away from the venue. Officials also noted that her social media posts frequently criticise the Cockroach Janta Party.
Trehan is the chairperson of Purush Aayog (Men’s Commission), an organisation advocating men’s rights and gender-neutral laws. She has consistently campaigned against the alleged misuse of dowry, domestic violence and marital laws while demanding the establishment of a statutory Men’s Commission. She has also been involved in previous controversies, including publicly backing due process in the Kuldeep Singh Sengar case before his conviction in the Unnao rape case.
