Wholesale fish vendors from a local wholesale market have made the move to the SGPDA retail fish market, triggering mixed reactions among retail vendors. The decision to prevent wholesale vendors from selling their fish after 10 a.m. in their original location has led to discontent among some retail fish vendors.
Tensions have flared up as some retail market vendors express dissatisfaction with the wholesale vendors’ arrival, mainly due to the perceived disparity in pricing for the same fish. Complaints have arisen over the unfavorable conditions prevailing in the SGPDA market, further compounding the situation.
Fatima, one of the retail fish vendors, voiced concerns about the deteriorating state of the market, citing issues such as clogged drains. She has urged the SGPDA chairperson to intervene and ensure fair justice prevails.
