Hits his head with scantling during altercation

Vasco: A woman allegedly murdered her husband after an altercation on the issue of his heavy drinking and regular abuse. The wife reportedly hit her husband on his head with a wooden scantling several times causing him serious injuries leading to his death.
Deputy Superintendant of Police Margao, Sunita Sawant informed media that on Sunday morning police received a call from Jeevanti Naval Hospital that a naval personnel with severe injuries to his head has been brought dead to the hospital.
After receiving the information, Vasco police rushed at the spot and saw that the wife of the dead person was at the hospital.
“During our primary inquiry we learnt that the demised person’s name was Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, who was an aircraft handler in the Navy and was working in Navy Goa region for the last two years,” Sawant said.
She further informed that Kaushalendra was resident of Navy quarters. The couple have a seven-year-old daughter. As per the narration given by his wife Sandhya Chauhan (32), her husband would always drink and come home late and would assault her.
On Saturday, he came late as usual in an intoxicated condition and pushed their girl and later an altercation began between her and her husband. 
The argument took an ugly turn when Kaushalendra allegedly threw an air cooler, an altar of worship on the floor and started beating his wife. Fed up with her husband’s torture Sandhya took a scantling and started hitting Kaushalendra’s head. 
The impact made him fall on the ground and he started bleeding excessively. While seeing no movement from her husband, she called their neighbour. They took Kaushalendra’s body to Jeevanti Naval hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors DySP Sawant said.
Sawant said there were around 14 cut injuries on the head of Kaushalendra. Police have taken Sandhya wife of Kaushalendra into police custody. An offence under Section 304 of IPC has been registered on Sandhya Chauhan. Police are investigating further. 
The body of Kaushalendra has been preserved for post mortem which will be held on Monday.
