VALPOI: There has been a rise in the incidents of wild boar damaging the crops in Sattari taluka which has made the farmers restless. The farmers in the area have been demanding for the last 10 years to that wild boar be declared as vermin.
Two days ago, wild boar damaged the sweet potato crop in Nagargao panchayat’s Bambar, Nanoda. Some farmers have even stopped farming as the losses often outperform their profits.
“We have stressed on planting fruit trees in the wild in order for wild animals such as boar to reside within the jungle borders,” said Valpoi Forest Conservator Shyamsundar Gawas.
