Wild boar in Ponda Sports Complex ground ripples fear among locals

MLA demands Sports Minister provide essential facilities

PONDA: Recent incident of entry of wild boar in Ponda Sports Complex ground rippled panic among the players and people come for evening walk. Since the incident occurred, a few days ago, Pondaites are demanding proper safety measures inside Ponda Sports Complex ground. 

According to sources the wild boar from nearby hilly area appeared in sports complex ground soon disappeared. Two locals, however, endured minor injuries in panic rush. 

Locals complained that bushes have grown up during monsoon, which they demanded to be cleared immediately as it would become a safe haven for different animals otherwise. 

They also demanded proper maintenance of the ground; instruments in the gymkhana are also old and rusted, they complained. 

The youth coming for training at gymkhana complains of hike in fees but no proper facilities provided; even the canteen is closed for around two years now. 

Ponda MLA Ravi Naik who built the sports complex, intended to encourage players, however, but a lot of problems cropped up over the years so he demanded that Sports Minister Babu Ajgaonkar should inspect the sports complex and provide essential facilities and maintenance works essential to the complex. The locals demanded proper toilet facilities, adequate staff and proper canteen facilities.
