PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the government will consult its employees’ association while taking action on non-performing employees.
Sawant had earlier stated that the government had issued an office memorandum asking heads of department (HOD) of the Secretariat to compulsorily retire employees who are lethargic and not performing their duties properly. Later he said that the order is applicable to all government employees and the non-performing will be asked to retire prematurely.
“Whatever we do, we do it after taking employee associations into confidence,” the chief minister said when asked whether the government will accept the demand of its employees’ association.
Reacting to the government’s decision, the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) on Sunday urged the government to do a thorough inquiry and issue multiple show cause notices before taking the decision about the premature retirement of any employee.
