PANJIM: With newly-appointed Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar set to take over the party’s leadership on Friday, his priority is to ensure that the State get’s a full-time Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has been ailing since mid-February and is currently undergoing treatment in the US. He is expected to be back later this month. In his absence, the State administration is currently managed by a three-Minister Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC).
“It’s been more than two and half months that State is without a Chief Minister. Though, we sympathise with the Chief Minister’s medical condition, people cannot be taken for granted. You need a Chief Minister to run the State,” Chodankar told media persons.
Congress leaders have urged Governor Dr Mridula Sinha to immediately appoint a full-time Chief Minister, failing which will take to the streets.
