Will discuss with CM proposed hike in power tariffs, says Sudin

Discusses Dept issues; Instructs engineers to ensure regular power supply

PANJIM:  Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Wednesday said that he will discuss with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant the proposed hike in power tariffs recommended by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC).

Dhavalikar, who was allocated power portfolio held a lengthy review meeting with the chief electrical engineer Stephen Fernandes and other engineers at the Vidhyut Bhavan, Panjim. He discussed various issues pertaining to the Electricity Department and gave instructions to the engineers to ensure regular power supply. Secretary (Power) was also present.

After the meeting, Dhavalikar said the consumers will receive monthly power bills from June onwards.  

To a question, Dhavalikar claimed that the Electricity Department is working on the directions of the Supreme Court on the Tamnar Power Transmission line. He added that the government will accord top priority in providing underground cabling in forest and agricultural areas. He said he will also meet assistant engineers during the next two days to know problems faced by them during field work.
