PANJIM: Goa Forward on Thursday launched a 46-point Youth Manifesto which focuses on zero tolerance to the drug menace and corruption along with creating job opportunities and encouragement to entrepreneurship.
Proposing free WIFI zones across the State as per government guidelines, the party has welcomed Electronic Dance Music Festivals (EDM) but through Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG).
The manifesto, which emphasizes on the education sector has announced setting up of several institutions like Dr Jack de Sequeira Goa University of Agriculture and Horticulture, Bahusaheb Bandodkar College of Sports and Physical education, Dr Charles Correa Institute of Para-engineering, Dr Vithal Shirodkar Institute of Para-Medical courses, and Dr Ernesto Borges Medical College in South amongst others.
Addressing media persons, Goa Forward President Prabhakar Timble said the manifesto is aimed at transforming Goa into a land of opportunities for youth in respect of education, employment, performing arts and creativity and youth innovations. “This is a studied and conscious attempt to bequeath to the youth, the Goa which they dream and cherish,” he said.
In a bid to ensure that Goan youth don’t migrate outside the State for jobs the party has proposed setting up of Employment Promotion Board to ensure 80 percent jobs to youths and an Overseas Education and Employment Promotion Board.
Goa Olympics on the forgotten games of Goa and special recognitions to youth also finds mention on the party manifesto.
