PONDA: Overjoyed over MGP leader Deepak Dhavalikar’s defeat in the recent Shiroda by-election, the Marcaim BJP Block Committee has vowed to bring the saffron party back to power in the next election by ensuring the defeat of former PWD Minister and sitting MLA Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar.
Addressing media persons on Monday, Marcaim BJP workers said they would like to repeat the 1994 victory when MGP-BJP alliance candidate Shripad Naik had defeated the then MLA and former Chief Minister Ravi Naik.
BJP former South Goa secretary Prashant Naik, Marcaim BJP Block treasurer Santosh Ramnathkar, BJP Yuva Morcha Vice President Dinesh Volivoikar and Jayraj Naik were present.
Prashant Naik said, “When Sudin was in the BJP government, we were always under pressure to work against him. Despite enjoying power in the BJP, Sudin backstabbed the saffron party by supporting Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha to defeat Narendra Sawaikar in recent South Lok Sabha election. Sudin’s claims that he was not active in the campaign are false. Sudin, his son Mithil and Marcaim panchayat members under MGP leadership campaigned in constituency.”
“Despite this, we managed to get lead of 1233 votes for BJP. Now, we are relaxed as Sudin has been removed from the government. When he was in government we were under constant pressure as it was difficult for us to work. But now as there is no pressure on us, we will help the lotus to bloom once again in Marcaim just like 1994,”Naik said. He said the BJP workers would work for development of Marcaim and added that they would work for restarting the ferry service at Durbhat and demand the upgradation of Marcaim Hospital, gymkhana facilities and cricket ground.
He also said the party workers will work to solve sewage treatment plant issue. He said the major problem in Marcaim is the old and rusted overhead electricity wires and added that they would meet the power minister on laying underground cables to solve the issue of frequent power failures.
