The low-profile Faldesai said he still continues to be the duly elected president having not received the so-called suspension order from the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee office. “I have read only on paper regarding my suspension. I cannot act till I receive an order from the Congress committee”, he said.
Asserting that John’s action against him and former Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira will not affect the party, Faldessai, however, conceded that such actions will only demoralise the party rank and file. “We will always remain loyal to the Congress, irrespective of position or not”, he added, while declining to comment on John’s action against him saying he is yet to receive the suspension order.
While reiterating that he is a loyal congress soldier having worked in the party for well around 32 years, after joining the NUSI and Youth Congress, Faldesai said he does not hanker after position, but at the same time asserted that he has not indulged in any anti-party activity during the Lok Sabha polls.
“I have been the district president for the last 10 years. I have done my job with justice. I have the privilege of working in the entire 20 segments of South Goa”, he said, while exuding confidence that the Congress will bounce back and will return to power in the next election.
On the controversy surrounding his signatures on the polling agents’ forms, which left many an agent from entry into the polling booths, Faldesai said he has not signed any wrong signature on the polling agents’ forms. “Those who are making false and baseless allegations should check my signatures. I am ready to prove that my signatures are not wrong”, he added.
Replying to a question on the Sadbhavna Diwas function which was used by some leaders to demand new Congress leadership in Goa, Faldesai said he had invited all leaders, including former ministers, MLAs and even the GPCC president John Fernandes.
“There was no hidden agenda behind the meeting. The GPCC president was intimated of the function well in advance”, he asserted.
