MARGAO: The village panchayat Davorlim-Dicarpale has asked the government to issue guidelines in writing, following which the local body will not hesitate to issue ‘Enable House numbers’ to all the allegedly illegal houses built on agricultural land in the village. However, the panchayat will conduct an inspection of these houses starting January 12.
Sarpanch Herculano Niasso, along with other panch members Myla Raikar, Menino Colaco and Deputy Sarpanch Mishell Miranda told reporters that the panchayat body has already resolved not to issue EH numbers to those 166 houses and the same issue will be discussed at the next gram sabha meeting.
“Upon the complaint of tenants of the said property, the panchayat has already issued show cause notices to some of the illegal houses and an inspection will be carried out with police protection,” said the Sarpanch.
He said that the panchayat will carry out the inspection of five houses per day.
The local leaders opined that every panchayat of Goa will face a tough time in the near future if they are asked to issue houses numbers to illegal houses, without any legal documents.
“All those ladies from the ST community at the press conference of former minister Ajgaonkar are being misguided. They are totally unaware about the issue at Davorlim,” added the Sarpanch.
