Speculation is rife that Pandurang Bhai Naik , son of the former Margao MLA, late Babu Naik, may be the best bet for BJP to finally defeat sitting MLA Digambar Kamat. While Naik has expressed his willingness to contest from the seat, there are other in the fray as well including Navnath Khandeparkar, Navin Raikar, Sharmad Raitukar and MMC councillor Rupesh Mhatme. In the past even though many had wanted him to contest and take on Digambar, Bhai had decided against contenting for personal reasons. However sources point out that the biggest challenge for Bhai is controlling the divisions within the party which caused them to suffer miserably in the municipal elections.
