Will Mauvin succeed Mickky in Cabinet?

Three day’s after Mickky Pacheco resigned from the cabinet, suspense continued over who would replace the NCP legislator in the government even as the chief minister said the decision in this regard would be taken by the high commands of both the parties.
Pacheco resigned from the Cabinet on Saturday after he was questioned in the Nadia death case by the Crime Branch and has been untraceable since then.
Sources in the NCP said Thivim legislator Nilkanth Halarnkar would get the ministry in all probabilities as the cabinet berth belonged to the party.
On the other hand sources in the Congress said that three Congress MLA’s (one from South Goa and two from North) are against giving berth to Halarnkar in the cabinet as he is a first time legislator.
News is also doing round in the political circles that Cortalim MLA and Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho could replace Pacheco in the cabinet and Halarnkar would be appointed the Deputy Speaker.
When asked who will replace Pacheco in the cabinet, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat told Herald the NCP and Congress high commands will take a decision on the issue.
“The pre-poll alliance with NCP was decided in Delhi. It’s for high command to take such decisions,” Kamat stated adding “I will let you know at the right time. I will not hold swearing-in ceremony at night. Everyone will be informed well in advance.”
