Will NIA reveal probe on Sanatan funding?
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, MAY 25
Will the National Investigation Agency (NIA) make public the investigations on the funding of Sanatan Sanstha and its other sister organisations and also the interstate ramifications of the Margao bomb blast.
Though the chargesheet filed by the NIA in the Margao bomb blast speaks about investigations into the funds of Sanatan Sanstha and also the interstate ramifications of the incident, but that outcome of the probe does not reflect anywhere in the 30-page chargesheet.
When contacted, special Public prosecutor, S B Faria, representing NIA in the court, said the NIA is still continuing in its investigations and will soon unravel the larger conspiracy to the court. “The court has granted the NIA request to conduct further probe in the case. The agency will now probe into all angles, including the funding of the organisation and the role played by the absconding accused”, he said.
Sources in the know said the NIA is also probing into the alleged bid by a resident of Ponda to purchase a plot of land at Jalgaon with the help of one of the absconding accused.
During investigations, the NIA has alleged that the involvement of accused persons from seven to 11 came out from the statements made by accused Vinay Talekar, Vinayak Patil and Dhananjay Ashtekar and Dilip Mangaonkar. In the chargesheet, the NIA has said that the custodial interrogation of the five absconding accused is needed to unearth the larger conspiracy of the case.
