VASCO: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday visited Chicalim Sub-District Hospital to take stock of the situation and held a review meeting with the doctors and gave a patient hearing to the issues faced by them at the hospital during the COVID pandemic crisis.The doctors expressed their views and informed about the issues they faced while treating the COVID patients.
Speaking to the reporters, the Panchayat Minister said that he was surprised to learn that there are plans to privatise the second floor of Chicalim Sub-District Hospital and someone has given it to a private party to admit 60 COVID patients.
“As the MLA of Dabolim and the hospital being located in Chicalim, I will not allow the government facility to turn into private,” warned Godinho.
“It is unfair that such good infrastructure that is being built for the people by the government is being handed over to a private party. Who has taken this decision?” he questioned.
He further said that he spoke to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and informed him that he will not allow Chicalim Sub-District Hospital to be privatised.
He also said that the government will put in all efforts to improve the medical facilities and services in the hospital and also assured that he will make the operation theatre at this hospital functional soon.
