PANJIM: Against the backdrop of apprehensions that Section 144 CrPC will be a big blow to Goa Tourism, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said he will review the notification issued by District Collector R Menaka. Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Panjim, he clarified that the notification was issued as a routine procedure.
“It was a routine circular… I have discussed the issue… I also will be reviewing the circular. Government is contemplating to withdraw the Section as it has created misunderstanding,” he said.
The circular, issued on February 10, comes at a time when Goa is gearing up to host its annual Carnival and Shigmo festivities. Several inquiries came to the fore since the issuance of the notification, which stated that Section 144 CrPC is imposed for 60 days owing to a terror threat in the western coast of India.
