PANJIM: Days after Governor Satya Pal Malik criticised the functioning of the Dr Pramod Sawant government in the State, the Raj Bhavan issued a statement that said the Governor and the Chief Minister would work in tandem to fight COVID-19 in the interest of the State.
Only two days earlier the Governor had criticised the government for a “judgemental error” on lockdown.
The statement by the Secretary to Governor Rupesh Kumar Thakur states, “Yesterday, the Chief Minister met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and discussed whole range of issues pertaining to COVID-19 management in the State.”
The release further said the Governor extended his full support to the government in its fight against the pandemic. “The Chief Minister assured that the observations, suggestions of the Governor would be acted upon by the government in the right earnest,” the release stated.
It further said, “The Governor and the Chief Minister pledged to continue to work in full cooperation and synergy in order to win the battle against the contagion and in the interest of the State.”
On Thursday the Governor had told media that the government committed a ‘judgemental error’ on not announcing a lockdown in Vasco.
The Governor had also referred to the government saying that all deaths were due to co-morbidities and directed that these too should be treated at the COVID hospital, besides speaking on providing food supplies in the containment zones.
