VASCO: Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Saturday visited Goa to take overview of the post cyclonic impact on the State of Goa and other States.
Athawale assured that he will write to the Prime Minister to extend its support in terms of financial packages to the State of Goa for the losses which it has faced due to Cyclone Tauktae, last Sunday.
During his interaction with the reporters, here, Republican Party of India Chief Athawale said that he will write to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately help the State of Goa which has faced losses due to the cyclone.
Further, He said that he also visited other States namely Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa and Southern States, which were badly affected by Cyclone Tauktae last week. Gujarat was the most badly affected followed by Maharashtra. I will write and appeal to the Central government to provide help to Goa, the minister added.
Commenting on the COVID-19 pandemic, Athawale said that the Central and the State governments are trying their best to bring down the COVID-19 cases and curb the virus. This is the time to fight unitedly and not to criticise the government.
Later, Athawale expressed his party’s interest in contesting for 2022 Assembly elections in Goa, atleast two seats.
He said that he will talk about this with the Chief Minister and in other places his Republican Party of India will lend its support to the BJP in Goa.
