VASCO: Cortalim independent MLA Anton Vas on Thursday said that he is willing to solve the ongoing protest of Velsao villagers over the proposed railway double tracking work if they approach him with their issues and by keeping aside those politicians trying to misguide them for their political fortunes.
Vas said that he has no powers to direct the Deputy Collector or the police to stand by with the Railways and alleged that Olencio Simoes of Congress is trying to misguide and instigate the villagers of Velsao only to revive his political fortunes.
He said that double tracking issue is going on for many years and the people have been facing issues of coal pollution.
He added that he too is against the double tracking but wanted the villagers to unitedly find a solution to the issues related to the double tracking.
He said that he had invited the villagers of Velsao for discussions but they were allegedly misguided by Simoes.
“I am in touch will my villagers and I know their real issues,” he said demanding that the political interference has to stop.
Coming down heavily on Simoes, the Cortalim MLA demanded to know where was Simoes when a candidate supported by him during Zilla Panchayat by-poll attacked a priest at Kurpawado, Quelossim?
Former Velsao-Pale-Issorcim Deputy Sarpanch Roquezinho D’Souza said that leaders who said ‘do or die’ situation and gave an ultimatum of four days to stop the ongoing railways works at Velsao were quiet even after a month since they gave the ultimatum.
He said that Vas has already assured the villagers that not a single house will be demolished due to double tracking works.
